This is an issue particularly in Logic, but can happen in other DAWs.
⚠️ The problem occurs when your instrument is set to receive MIDI on the "Omni" channel.
Change Incoming MIDI Channel
To change the incoming MIDI channel, you need to have access to the Instrument Header.
With your Kontakt instance open, click "VIEW" and enable "Instrument Header"
You will now see a section in the header that says "MIDI Ch: Omni". Click this to assign an individual MIDI channel to your instrument. Select "Port A > 1" unless you have other specific needs.
Change Kontakt's Default Behavior
To change the default setting in Kontakt, open the Options dialog box, and navigate to the "Handling" tab.
Under "MIDI channel assignment..." select "Assign first free".
This will prevent instruments from loading as Omni by default in the future.
